Bylaws of the Athens County Ohio Golf League

Article I: Name and Purpose.

Section 1: The name of the organization shall be the Athens Golf League of Athens, Ohio

Section 2: The Athens County Ohio Golf League is organized for the purpose of administering league activities in collaboration with the management of the Ohio University Golf Course for the benefit of league members.

Article II. Membership.

Section 1: Any dues paying member of the Wednesday or Thursday Night League at the Ohio University Golf Course is a member of the Athens Golf League of Athens Ohio.

Section 2: Members of the Athens County Ohio Golf League, are eligible to and expected to participate in league meetings and in electronic polls and votes regarding league governance.

Article III. Officers and decision-making.

Section 1: The Steering Committee will consist of (2) members from each league night and one at-large member. The committee will be elected by the members.

a. Eligibility: Any current league member with three consecutive years of participation shall be eligible for nomination to the Steering Committee.

b. Terms: Steering Committee members are elected to two-year terms. There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms a member may serve. Beginning in the second year of operation, one member from each league night will be elected annually. The election for the at-large member will be held upon the completion of the incumbent's term.

Section 2: Officers' titles and main duties are as follows:

a. Commissioner: The commissioner will be selected annually by the Steering Committee from among its membership and will be responsible for conducting elections and meetings and serving as the official liaison of the Athens Golf League of Athens, Ohio with the Ohio University Golf Course administration.

b. Treasurer: The League Treasurer will be selected by the Steering Committee from among league participants. The treasurer will be responsible for collecting dues, paying bills, all banking transactions, and providing an annual report of finances at the Annual League Meeting. The Treasurer serves at the pleasure of the Steering Committee

Section 3: Removal of an officer or member of the Steering Committee may occur through a vote of the membership. A vote may be called by a majority of the Steering Committee members, or by a petition signed by no fewer than 10 members

Section 4: Decisions regarding rules of play will be established by an electronic vote of the membership. The vote will be taken after discussion of proposed changes occurs at the annual meeting, which will be held in March.

a. At least 50% of teams must be represented in order to have a quorum. Proxies must be communicated to the Commissioner in order to be official.

b. Amendments to the bylaws must be made by at least a 51% vote of eligible members through an electronic vote. Proposed amendments must be made available to the membership 10 days prior to the initial meeting at which the discussion will occur. The vote will occur only after the meeting has occurred.

Article IV. General, special, and annual meetings.

Section 1: An annual meeting at which rule changes, by-laws, league operating procedures, and other issues of moment are addressed will be called by the Commissioner in March. Email notice of the annual meeting shall be given at least one month prior to the date.

For emergency meetings, email notice will be given at least 48 hours in advance. Email notification of all other meetings should occur at least two weeks prior to the meeting.

Section 2: Special meetings may be called by the Commission or by a majority vote of the Steering Committee, or by a petition of at least 10 members.
